A devastating earthquake struck Chile in late February 2010. No employees of Bata Chile were injured, and for that the Power Athletics Limited (PAL) team is truly thankful. However, some Bata Chile associates suffered considerable material losses, and our Latam group sister company, Bata Chile, created a fund to provide assistance specifically to these associates.

In an effort to support this endeavour, Power Athletics Ltd. initiated a fundraising campaign in Toronto and was successful in raising a substantial amount of money from contributions made by PAL employees and PAL associates both in Canada and overseas. Consequently, as a gesture of appreciation and support to Bata Chile and the people of Chile in general, PAL's company manager, Jim Russell, officially presented a cheque for the amount raised to Bata Chile's company manager, Luis Ernesto Rojas, during the Power 2011 Q1 event recently held in Toronto.
