Brand of the Year Trophy

In 2006 the Government of Pakistan initiated a program called – the “Brand of the year Award”. The purpose of this program is to create awareness about brand importance in the country and also to create healthy competition among the best national and multinational brands operating in Pakistan.

In order to successfully run this activity the Government of Pakistan created a “Brand Award Council”. This council is assisted by other organizations, i.e. Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Pakistan Standard & Quality Control Authority.

It is the most authentic and acclaimed Brands Award activity in the country which has received international recognition and is duly endorsed by the Brands Bureau International London-UK & Brands University International Incorporation USA.

The nominations are received and reviewed by the panel of experts set by the Brands Award Council. The panel then chooses 100 most preferred brands out of the total nominations. Only those brands which; have been present in the market for a minimum of three years, have achieved huge success in all major cities of the country and have set exemplary records in their relevant fields are chosen or become eligible.

These chosen nomination forms are forwarded to the Brands University for focus group study and survey. The Brands University in collaboration with Brands Bureau International-London conducts a nation-wide consumer survey to determine the current market standing of the brands and their popularity among the consumers. The survey demographics cover all required dimensions of a brand audit and include people and students of different ages, genders, occupations, socio-economic classes and income groups.

After the completion of this survey a report is generated and is provided to the Brands Award Council. On the basis of this report, each company’s profile and current year brand market standing, the scoring is completed and a 'Brand of the Year' is determined in each of the different categories.

For 2009 Bata Pakistan is pleased and proud to announce that they were awarded with three “Brand of the year 2009” awards, in the “Family Shoe” category; Marie Claire - Ladies Fashion Footwear, Power - Sports Footwear and Bubblegummers - Kids Footwear.

Bata Brands in Pakistan have established themselves on the pinnacle of consumer preference, current year market standing, company profile and expert analysis. Bata Pakistan is proud to achieve this hat-trick as this reflects the performance consistency of all their employees and management team. It also shows that Bata Brands are perceived very well in terms of quality, familiarity, affordability, availability, market standing, consumers’ preference and company profile amongst the consumers.

It was all possible due to the team efforts of Bata Pakistan and of course, guidance, support and confidence from the BEM regional office.

It’s the fourth consecutive year that Bata Pakistan has won this award. The award was handed over to the Managing Director, Mr. Muhammad Imran Malik by the Chief guest, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani in a colorful ceremony held in Karachi on May 7th, 2010. Karachi city is the commercial hub of the country. The ceremony was attended by business dignitaries, eminent citizens, high government officials, Governor and the Chief Minister of the Sind province.

Brands are recognized to be the most valuable asset of any company and in many cases considered as the single most valuable asset. Since the inception of this program it's absolutely evident it stands as an unprecedented hallmark of brand recognition in Pakistan. In view of the rapidly increasing popularity, acceptance and authenticity of the activity every year.

This program was extensively covered by the media including leading newspapers and various satellite channels. The newspapers covered the event by producing big write-ups and satellite television covered it in the form of special talk shows and by running the live event and recorded documentaries.

Congratulations Bata Pakistan!
