Giampaolo M.

Men's Product Manager - Bata Technology

Creating, developing, producing, selling

Since he was a child, Giampaolo M. has been surrounded by shoes. He grew up in the beautiful Riviera del Brenta (Italy), along the river linking Padua to Venice, an area in which traditional craftsmanship of luxury footwear is still practiced. After graduating from high school, he immersed himself in this world, learning from master craftsmen and attending style and technical design schools. He's been with the Bata Group for a little over two years.

Q. What are the most important things about your particular area?
A. Markets are constantly changing, which means that we need to continuously update our technology to create footwear that's always on the leading edge. It's very important to make customers aware of the special comfort and technological innovations of our brands-Flexible, Antistatic, and Air System-so that they'll choose them for their distinctive qualities. Once they wear them, they can feel right away the harmonious combination of comfort and modernity, with particular attention to detail in materials and style, that characterizes the Technology brand.

Q. What do you enjoy most about the job?
A. The most exciting thing is meeting people on the street who are wearing my creation. This gratifies me very much.

Q.What are your goals as a designer and how do these fit in your work with Bata?
A. The goal always is to create collections that reflect the personality of the customer and give them something particular to them. Bata Metro Style Center is a unique, Europe-based design lab, where we study the market and try to anticipate changes. We develop our projects on the basis of careful analysis done at the international level.

My professional training and humanistic attitude help me to create new projects combining technology, elegance, style and craftsmanship. We're always having to rethink and reinvent the system to find new aesthetic parameters and new modes of manufacturing-a perfect balance of need, fashion and marketability.

Tradition meets innovation to create collections with style and exclusivity.
